Pre election activitiesTo help you inspire greater student engagement with the Y Vote Mock Elections process we have designed 6 pre election activities/lesson plans.
Each one introduces students to important issues and concepts concerned with elections and can be used side by side or autonomously.
Student Section The dedicated Student Section of the site can be used alongside the pack in preparation for the mock elections. There are facts, quizzes, interactive polls and games that bring the information to life and support student involvement in the process.

Your own Press ReleaseA mock election is a great opportunity to show off the work your students are doing so why not let the local press know about it?
Step One: Click here to download the press release template
Step Two: Insert your school's details in the allotted spaces
Step Three: Send the press release to all local newspapers and television networks.
HustingsAn in-school hustings with real local candidates, is a great way to give students a taste of the real thing whilst energising your mock election. Here is our simple guide to organising your in-school hustings:

Invite all candidates provided
they do not contravene your schools equal opportunities policy.

Ensure all candidates have equal time to speak.

Ensure all candidates get a fair say.

Remind all candidates of the 1973 agreement prepared by the
Politics Association and signed by all main political parties on the
issue of politics in schools. This agreement requires candidates to
avoid being partisan and focus on what they offer as candidates and
the importance of voting.
