Teacher Dror Yuravlivker struggles to cope with the number of registering students

Election Madness at Chigwell School

Teacher Dror Yuravlivker described the polling station at Chigwell School as a “mad-house” when 284 out of 396 or 72% of eligible students queued up enthusiastically to register their vote.

Mr Yuravlivker said, “the students had a terrific time. I think the entire school sees the election as an important event where students have had a real impact, and I have no doubt that it generated higher interest in the real election.”

Many Chigwell students were also involved in the constituency election. Fifty students attended a hustings for four parliamentary candidates for Epping Forest a few days before the Mock Election, and over half of the Sixth Form Government/Politics students were involved in real campaigns for parliamentary candidates including Eleanor Laing MP, former Conservative leader Iain Duncan Smith, and various Labour, Liberal Democrat, and UKIP candidates.
